YU JIN JULIE SUH : MULTI MEDIA ARTIST

" I have discovered that art does not judge but provides the artist freedom to think above and beyond the standards set by society; however, I also believe that art is both a personal expression and a public venue between the artist and the audience to explore societal issues. Artists of the past and present continue to converse with people not only by recording history through paintings but also inspiring the next generation to explore their place in the world. My lifelong passion as an artist is to learn how to awaken others around me and urge them to discover their own role in society. "

Yu Jin Julie Suh is a high school artist who seeks to use her media of graphic design and illustration to empower social change in women related issues, specifically Comfort Women, Gender Equality, and Sex Trafficking. Her work has been showcased in the United States, South Korea, Hong Kong, Monaco, Malawi, and other countries. She continues to organize art galas and charitable fashion shows in her effort to bring awareness to the public. Yu Jin has studied art through Parsons, OTIS, and Art Center and would like to pursue a career in Studio Arts.

Television, newspapers, and the internet are all media outlets that often cater to the viewer’s preferences. Art, however, is an expression of the artist who hopes to convey a message to its audience.  Through my art, I hope to change the world. I hope to attract an audience whose perspective of society will be transformed by the art that they see and take action to bring justice and renewal to a broken world.
